SEO is short for Search Engine Optimiser [Optimizer], This is the art of ensuring your pages are prevalent throughout the Worlds most important Search Engines.

An SEO could be a Designer or a piece of software.

Important - there are literally thousands of designers purporting to be able to optimise your site for search engines (most of these designers are not even listed on search engines themselves).

IWDP is the only complete Web developer listing on the Web that checks every single applicant before listing them on the site - because we want you to be able to trust our word.

However, this is something that should not be trusted to 'just anyone'. In the past, many an unethical SE submitter has crossed certain boundaries, boundaries that are now policed heavily by the big shots in the SE arena, and if your site is found to be guilty of such a 'boundary crossing' you could find your site out in the cold, with no listing.

The top player amongst SE is Google, it is in fact hard to see how Google will ever be dethroned, that is not to say that other SE should be ignored - quite the opposite.

As a potential client you want your site to be listed high in the rankings, but PLEASE be wary of unsolicited firms mailing you promising guaranteed slots in the SE, you would not trust a firm offering you a $1,000,000 for FREE so, we urge you; don't trust these mailshots.

Good quality SEO will be able to promote your site without hefty payments, in fact you should consider payment to a SE the last resort (afterall - look at our SE rankings, we have not spent a single penny on SEO). Ask your prospective SEO what they offer, and how they achieve their goals; ask for proof (this is afterall the main source of visitors to your site) - you need to get it right. A good test is to see how well the SEO itself is listed within the main Search Engines.

To maintain its integrity, this 'speciality' within IWDP will be personally vetted by Wicksie, to the same constraints as the W3C validated code and Accessibility areas are to ensure those listed can provide exactly what they claim; which in turn gives you greater piece of mind.
